On Friday I wrote about the top 3 MLB prospects leading into the 2018 season.
Prospects 4-6 according to Baseball America are White Sox Outfield Prospect Eloy Jimenez, Nationals OF Victor Robles and Yankees shortstop prospect Gleyber Torres. MLB.com has Torres 5th & Robles 6th.
Following are some recent eBay sold prices, along with stats for Jimenez, Robles & Torres.
Eloy Jimenez turned 21 years old in November. Jimenez played a total of 89 Minor League games during 2017, 71 A+ games and 18 AA. For those 89 games, Jimenez hit a combined .312, with 19 homers, 65 RBI, and an OPS of .947.
A 2017 Bowman Chrome Eloy Jimenez Blue Refractor autograph card numbered to 150, graded PSA 10, sold February 18 on eBay for $1200. (When there is a Best Offer ended price with a line thru it, you can find out the actual sold price by typing in the item number on watchcount.com).
Nationals Outfielder Victor Robles won’t turn 21 until May. He’s the #5 Baseball America prospect, & #6 on MLB.com.
Robles played 114 Minor League games during 2017, 77 for A+ and 37 AA games. He hit a combined .300 with 10 homers, 47 RBI, 27 steals & an OPS of .875. He also had a cup of coffee with the Nats hitting .250 with 4 RBI in 24 at bats.
A 2016 Bowman Chrome Red Shimmer Refractor Autograph for Robles, numbered to 10 and Graded BGS Gem Mint 9.5, sold 2/3/18 for a Best Offer of $1750 on eBay.
Yankee prospect Gleyber Torres turned 21 in December. He played 55 games at AA and AAA during 2017, hitting a combined .287 with 7 HR, 34 RBI, 7 SB & an OPS of .863 in 202 at bats. His 2017 season ended in June when he was injured & required Tommy John Surgery on his non-throwing elbow.
A 2015 Bowman Chrome orange refractor autograph card, numbered to 25 & graded PSA 9, sold for $4150 in an eBay auction that ended December 31.
Be careful what you spend on Baseball Prospects with little or no Major League Experience. If they develop into stars it’s great to have the cards early, but very few will hit it big at the Major League Level.

Ronald Acuna 2017 Leaf Valiant Orange Base Autographs card #10/25
Now that Spring Training has begun, it's a good time to take a look at eBay sold prices for some of baseball's top prospects.
Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna is currently ranked #1 by Baseball America, and #2 by MLB.com.
The 20 year old Acuna had 557 at bats at 3 different minor league levels during 2017, including 221 AAA at bats. His overall batting average was .325, with 21 homers, 82 rbi, 44 steals, 88 runs & an OPS of .896. His AAA OPS was .940.
A 2017 Bowman Chrome purple refractor autograph card /250 for Acuna ended 2/15 in an eBay auction for $1150. The card was graded Pristine 10 by BGS, with a 10 autograph grade.
A 2017 Bowman Chrome red refractor autograph, #3/5, sold via Best Offer for $12,000 on eBay December 19th. The card was graded GEM MINT 9.5 by BGS, with a 10 autograph grade.
If you’d like to bid on the 2017 Leaf Valiant autograph pictured with this article, click on the photo to get taken directly to the eBay page for bidding.
Shohei Ohtani is the #2 prospect for Baseball America, and is ranked #1 by MLB.com
Ohtani is 23 years old, and was Japan's Pacific League MVP for 2016, when he went 10-4 with a 1.86 ERA and 174 strikeouts in 140 innings pitched, while batting .322/.416/.588 with 22 homers in 104 games.
2018 Topps Heritage Baseball is slated to have Ohtani’s first MLB Autograph cards, along with a short printed rookie card. Look for some very high prices on those cards!
18 year old Blue Jays third base prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr is ranked #3 by both BA & MLB.
Vladimir hit .323 in 119 lower level minor league games during 2017, with 84 runs, 13 homers 76 rbi, 8 steals, and an OPS of .910.
An ungraded Vladimir Guerrero Jr 2016 Bowman Chrome Purple Refractor /250 sold in an eBay auction 2/15 for $471.
The highest recent price I could find for a Vladimir card on eBay was $5,025.05 for his 2016 Bowman Chrome Orange Refractor autograph card /25. That card was graded PSA 10.
As you can tell by the sold prices, the collecting world is sold on the talent of Baseball’s top 3 prospects.
There are some more top prospects commanding high prices on eBay. I’ll try to get to some of them in another blog later this weekend.

Chicago Bears Autograph Collection
Huggins and Scott Auction Bidding Ends February 8
Willie Mays was the Mike Trout of the 1950's and 1960's.
Trout turned 26 years old during the 2017 season.
His 162 game averages are 182 hits, 121 runs, 35 homers, 100 rbi, .306 batting avg, 29 stolen bases and an average WAR of 9.
Willie Mays missed most of the 1952 season and all of the 1953 season due to military service. So Mays didn't pass 900 games played until 1958, when he turned 27 years old.
Willie's 162 game averages thru the 1958 season were 197 hits, 115 runs, 38 homers, 107 rbi, 27 stolen bases and an average WAR of 9.
The PSA 10 Willie Mays 1969 Topps card pictured to the left has been bid up to $5800 in the current Huggins and Scott Auction. Bidding ends February 8th. https://hugginsandscott.com/cgi-bin/showitem.pl?itemid=24009
Huggins and Scott also has a PSA 9, 1966 Topps Willie Mays card in their auction ending February 8. None have been graded higher than a 9 by PSA. Bidding has reached $2700 so far on that card. https://hugginsandscott.com/cgi-bin/showitem.pl?itemid=24905
Bidding reached $96,000 on a Willie Mays 1966 Game Worn Jersey, graded Mears A10, in a November 2017 Heritage Auction.
Meanwhile, MLB.com auctions sold a 2017 Mike Trout game worn jersey for $10,320. Bidding ended August 28, 2017.
To say his collectibles are valuable 99 years later would be an understatement.
The 1947 Jackie Robinson jersey pictured to the left was sold by Heritage Auctions (HA.com) for more than two million dollars...$2,050,000 during 2017.
Some other valuable Jackie Robinson items that have sold at auction (prices according to pricerealized.com) during the last year or so include...
1948-1949 Leaf #79 Jackie Robinson Rookie SGC MINT 96 sold for $108,000 by Robert Edward Auctions 10/30/2017
1953 Jackie Robinson Game-Used Bat - PSA/DNA GU 9 sold for $72,000 by Robert Edward Auctions 10/30/2017
Jackie Robinson played with Brooklyn from 1947-1956. Jackie was 28 years old in 1947. His stats stack up very well when you look at his career averages...
.311 lifetime batting average
.409 lifetime on base percentage
162 game avg...111 runs, 178 hits, 32 doubles, 6 triples, 16 homers, 86 RBI and 23 Stolen bases
Average WAR per season 6.1, with a high of 9.7 in 1951.

Roberto Clemente was 37 years old during the 1971 World Series, when he had maybe the best all around Series any player has had. During the 7 game Series, Clemente hit .414 with 12 hits, 2 doubles, a triple, 2 home runs, and an OPS of 1210.
The youtube video above left shows him legging out a triple on a ball that short hopped the wall in left center during that series, and also hitting an opposite field home run.
The video above right shows him making a throw to third base to nail an Oriole runner.
Clemente cards & collectibles should always carry a very high premium. Not only was he a great player, he died in a plane crash at the age of 38 on December 31, 1972 while en route to deliver aid to earthquake victims in Nicaragua.
The Clemente game worn jersey from 1963, pictured to the left, was sold by Hunt Auctions for $143,750 (including buyers premium) in an auction that ended November 11, 2017. (according to pricerealized.com).
Hunt Auctions also sold a Clemente 1972 game used bat for $9200 (including buyers premium) during that same auction. (according to pricerealized.com).
A PSA 8 Clemente 1955 Topps Rookie card sold for $31,200 (including buyers premium) in a Heritage Auction that ended August 20, 2017. (according to pricerealized.com).
